Targeted Support

The Targeted Support programme, funded by DWP, a joint venture between Learning Partnerships and Leeds City College, was a programme for “work ready” young people aged 18 to 24. It provided opportunities for young people to gain work experience and a qualification alongside vocational training. The ultimate aim being to find young people work, that is sustained for at least 26 weeks.

198 young people started the Targeted Support programme and the team are extremely proud to have engaged and created partnerships with over 70 new businesses and employers.

Many of the employers relished the opportunity to support and offer opportunities to young people including Addleshaw Goddard, a corporate law firm with offices across the country. 5 Targeted Support candidates went through thorough training and work experience at the Leeds office and are now permanent employees of this prestigious company.

Although recruitment stopped in May we are still supporting young people who are still in their first 6 months of work.

Nandos, who have also supported many placements and employed a number of young people fed back about one of their new recruits.

“Daniel he is doing great- we are looking to increase his contract in the next few weeks to full time and this month he won 'Nandoca of the month' nominated by a manager and then voted in by the rest of the team. He has become a real asset to the team”
