Celebration Event

On the 18th June the ESOL team attended the English for Integration and Work end of programme celebration event to celebrate the achievements of all involved.

The event at Shine, Harehills consisted of representatives from PATH Yorkshire, West Yorkshire Police, local training organisations and Learning Partnerships, as well as all of the women who have participated in the project during the previous 18 months.

Guest speakers spoke about the everyday barriers that recently arrived third-country national women face due to language, cultural and economic difficulties when living in the UK.

Carl Banks, (Learning Partnerships) praised the women who have accessed the programme as being “devoted and determined to improve their situations through hard-work and attending ESOL and integration classes to build confidence, language proficiency and life in the UK knowledge.”

One of the women stated that the course was better than she could have imagined and that she has learnt some much in such a short period of time. Others also commented on the quality of teaching and that the lessons were stimulating, fun and not boring like some other courses they had been on.

Learning Partnerships have also been successful in securing a new contract through the English for Integration Fund to deliver the English classes to 72 women over the next 12 months.

If you, or somebody you know is interested in attending the programme, please contact Learning Partnerships or complete the online application form: http://jotformeu.com/form/22482784702356
